Hancock

Will Smith is a Scientologist now, right? That’s what I heard anyway. It was probably Tom Cruise who made it happen. Its unfortunate, because I’m in love with the Fresh Prince. Even though his new movie leaves a good deal to be desired. I was disappointed, to say the least.

Peter Berg directs. He’s a talented filmmaker. I enjoyed The Kingdom, as well as Friday Night Lights. Will Smith is the crappiest superhero on the planet. John Hancock is the most hated person in Los Angeles, as in spite of saving lives, he also destroys properties causing high cost to the city to fix his damages. When he saves the life of the PR Ray Embrey from a train, the executive feels in debt with Hancock and decides to change his image. He brings the anti-hero to have dinner at his home, and introduces him to his son and fan Aaron and to his wife, Mary. But Mary does not want Hancock in her life.

Was it a comedy? Was it an action film? I really don’t know what was supposed to be happening. I didn’t laugh, and I wasn’t on the edge of my seat. It wasn’t really focused. I was bored after about an hour.

The Blu-ray is presented 2.40:1 widescreen and encoded at 1080p. Source material is absolutely perfect. Colors are incredibly rich, vibrant, but still accurate. No chroma noise or any other imperfections. Overall detail is outstanding and intricate, with softness never being an issue. Black levels are also outstanding. Its basically a flawless mix in every single aspect.

Audio is uncompressed PCM 5.1 surround, and its up there with the best of them as well. This Blu-ray is subtle but always active. The rear speakers get quite a workout, and dynamic range is excellent. Bass is deep and heavy, and the music sounds perfect
