| |  The third season of the quite popular spinoff of The Andy Griffith Show. Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C. catalogues the dimwitted Gomer's trials and tribulations in the U.S. armed services. Always the bumbling fool, Jim Nabor's performance endears Gomer to us all as a lovable idiot.
Gomer makes the trip from Mayberry, North Carolina to Camp Henderson in California. His antics and ridiculous mistakes generally caused much stress with his superior officer Sgt. Carter. Frank Sutton plays Sergeant Vince Carter as a traditional disciplinarian who can't for the life of him understand why Gomer keeps messing up so severely. However, Gomer begins to endear himself to Sergeant Carter, and the military man begins to look out for the borderline retarded private. Despite the fact that he can't do anything right, Gomer is determined to prove himself to his Sergeant.
