I was born in 1985. So, I didn't watch any of these "classic" 80's television shows that keep getting sent to me. I had never seen an episode of Family Ties until just now. Its not a bad show, I suppose. But that doesn't mean I'm going to shy away from this simple fact: the 1980's were the absolute worst decade in the 20th century for music, movies, and television.
Stephen and Elyse Keaton were two liberal hippies in the who married in the 1960's. They hoped that their children would share their values and views of the world. Alas, they birthed three conservatives. The most ardent in their beliefs is young Alex (Michael J. Fox). He is a Reagan-ite who walks around the house in a suit and tie and only refers to himself as Alex P. Keaton. This all makes for situational hilarity! Yeah!
