Smallville: The Complete Seventh Season

Smallville is the WB (or the CW or whatever) show that I shamefully enjoy. I know they generally make crap and I like to preface any review of a WB show by saying that if its on the WB, you know its going to be some craptastic doodie. However, Smallville is a good show. Who would think that a show about the teen angst of Superman could possibly have any merit to it? But it does, my friend, it certainly does.

The show stars the previously unknown Tom Welling as the young Clark Kent. After abandoning his native planet Krypton before its destruction, his spaceship lands in Smallville, where he is adopted by Martha and Jonathan Kent, and raised as a normal boy.

Clark develops a friendship with the young Lex Luthor. It is interesting to watch these two characters truly caring for one another, and at the same time battling for control of the town and its people. Luthor is played by Michael Rosenbaum, as a cold and calculating businessman. Rosenbaum actually does a great job, doing as well as Gene Hackman and probably better than Kevin Spacey in the same role.

As Clark grows, he's discovering his own superpowers while at the same time discovering everything else that a normal young adult discovers. He tries to force himself to do the right thing, but his powers often become a curse. He of course has a few hot ladies that tag along with him, anxious to help him through his troubled times in any way he can.
