| | Over the years, South Park has developed from a crudely drawn and often immature but hilarious cartoon into one of the most hard-hitting and prophetic satires of our time. The political and social commentary made on the show is neither liberal nor conservative. Its simply common sense. Republicans have latched onto this show because more often than not its social commentary on the ridiculousness of political correctness leans more heavily to the right, but Parker and Stone have no intention of appeasing either political party (that was exemplified in the furor and conservative outrage over the 'Bloody Mary' episode).
So, what do the creators believe are their finest achievements. All of the episodes featured in this box set are pretty recent, going no farther back than three seasons. Apparently, Stone and Parker appreciate what this show has become, and point out that while the show is always hilarious, the social commentary is the most clever available on television. The episode 'Stupid Spoiled Whore Video Playset' comments on our culture's obsession with celebrity, and with people who don't actually do anything but act famous (i.e. Paris Hilton). We also get treated to one of the funniest episodes of all time, 'Towelie'- which features the boy's quest to retrieve their video game system, hampered at every turn by a talking towel who loves to smoke weed. Its classic.
