|Marvel: Ultimate Alliance is the game for those who enjoyed X-Men Legends and X-Men Rise of the Apocalypse. This is a well-thought out and intricate adventure story that leads you through nearly every realm of the universe of Marvel Comics. Raven Software amazingly improved upon their incredibly enjoyable X-Men Legends RPG. |
The villain is Dr. Doom, and he brings together a group of nasty villains whose plan is to attack a S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier. Doom is opposed by a group of superheroes who come to the aid of Nick Fury, the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. You pursue Doom across multiple dimensions and encounter many popular supervillains from the Marvel universe. You'll see Fin Fang Foom, Grey Gargoyle, Blackheart, and many others.
What heroes do you get to roll with, you ask? Well, there's Captain America, Spider-man, Thor, and Wolverine. After a few levels, you're given the option to form your own custom team. You get to see a whole lot more of those famous heroes, though. Its pretty darn cool.
The gameplay is pretty exciting, and should be familiar to anyone whose played Diablo or X-Men Legends. You command four heroes, and as you perform more missions and destroy more enemies, you become more powerful and gain more abilities. After a bit of learning, the combos become easy to perform and button mashing becomes much more effective.
The coolest thing about this game is the sheer variety of levels the game takes you. All of your favorite locales from the world of Marvel, including Mephisto's Realm, Mandarin's palace, the Skrull Homeworld, and many others.
The graphics are strong, with detail being spot-on during most of the game, although a couple of background views are a bit blurry. The game is not all-that difficult, but its still hard enough to be enjoyable.
