Meet the Spartans

Completely without surprise, Meet The Spartans is quite possibly the worst movie ever made. In the tradition of every single bad parody to come out in the past few years, Meet The Spartans does not have a single redeeming value or a single joke worth laughing at. It is simply awful. And most importantly, its not at all funny.

From the makers of Date Movie and Epic Movie comes a spoof of a movie thats barely a year old. Lets also include a ridiculous amount of pop culture references that will immediately date it. We'll see a bunch of Britney Spears stuff. She shaves her head and cradles her baby over the pit from 300.

Meet The Spartans focuses mainly on one film, 300. While there's enough comedic material there for as many as three somewhat tolerable minutes of MADtv, Meet The Spartans gamely alternates between unfunny gay jokes and violent pratfalls for a good 80 minutes, finding time for not one, but two musical dance numbers set to "I Will Survive."

American Idol, Ugly Betty, Heroes, Lost, and I think 24 (I stopped paying attention). I don't even want to think about it anymore.

The Blu-ray is presented in 1.85:1 widescreen and encoded at 1080p. For a movie I can’t stand, the video presentation is quite excellent. The color palette is brilliant and every single musical number is true reference material. Blacks are excellent, as is overall detail.

Audio is uncompressed PCM 5.1 surround, and also truly incredible. The surrounds are non-stop, and bass is awesome. A truly immersive experience I suppose is good, but it would be better if the movie didn’t suck. The bass is heavy, the music kicks. Dialogue is never garbled, and always clear even with all of the background sounds. This is a very immersive transfer.
