10,000 B.C.

I saw Independence Day when I was ten years old. Needless to say, the movie holds a pretty solid spot in my heart as one of the most badass action movies ever. Perhaps if I watched it today I would feel differently. I would see it for how corny it is, for how bad the dialogue was. I don't think I could ever dislike it, though. It is simply too damn awesome.

The Day After Tomorrow is corny as hell, the dialogue is pretty hack, and the acting often seems quite phoned in. But I didn’t care. It is so damn awesome. And its also ridiculously Hollywood in its liberalism and absolute alarmism. I defer to scientists when it comes to global warming. They say its real, so I say its real. But thousands of years of climate change are compressed into such a short period of time, and that is what makes it so damn badass.

Okay, now that I've finished with the good things to say about Roland Emmerich, I'm going to smash him over the head with the hammer of criticism. 10,000 B.C. makes me curdle in disgust whenever I think about the horror I just witnessed. Its truly one of the worst big-budget pictures I've seen in years. And I've seen a lot of crap.

It seems like a cool idea. A prehistoric "epic", its the journey of a young mammoth hunter as he adventures across uncharted territory to save his tribe. I was expecting a corny but fun movie. But there's nothing fun going on here. The action scenes seem incredibly out of place and disjointed. I didn't care about any of the characters. There's no Will Smiths here. And its terribly written and acted.
