The story begins with an enchanted egg ... and what hatches sets in motion an adventure that will take a young boy on the unforgettable journey of a lifetime. Director Jay Russell (My Dog Skip, Tuck Everlasting) and an acclaimed cast including two-time Best Actress Oscar® nominee Emily Watson (Breaking the Waves, 1997; Hilary and Jackie, 1998), Alex Etel (Millions), Ben Chaplin (The New World, The Truth About Cats and Dogs), David Morrissey (Derailed) and Emmy® Award winner Brian Cox (Outstanding Supporting Actor, “Nuremberg,” 2001) bring the magic of the popular novel by Dick King-Smith (“Babe”) about the Loch Ness monster to life. Creating Crusoe is an exploration of the physical and special effects that went into creating the water horse, Crusoe; Myths and Legends is a mixture of thoughts and opinions about the origins of the Water Horse myth - does he really he exist?; Setting the Scene looks at the production design and the different locations used to create an authentic Scottish environment; in The Characters, the cast and director Jay Russell discuss the characters from the film and the challenges of playing them; in The Story, director Russell discusses the process of bringing Dick King-Smith's book to the screen; and Water Work: Creating the Water Horse shows Alex Etel’s amazing work underwater to create one of the most difficult scenes in the movie.

Synopsis:
When a lonely young boy named Angus discovers a large, mysterious egg along the shores of Loch Ness, no one is prepared for what lies within. He soon discovers, that the strange, mischievous hatchling inside is none other than The Water Horse, the loch's most mysterious and fabled creature. But with the Water Horse growing ten times its size every day, Angus finds it increasingly difficult to keep his new friend a secret.
