Culver City, CA (3/3/08) — Ice Cube (Are We There Yet?), Katt Williams (Norbit, Epic Movie) and Tracy Morgan (TV’s “30 Rock,” The Longest Yard) star in the hysterical comedy First Sunday, available on Blu-ray™ High-Def, DVD and PSP May 6th, 2008 from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Acclaimed playwright David E. Talbert (Love On Layaway), makes his feature writing and directing debut with First Sunday, which revels in the screwball antics of a pair of inept petty criminals who team up to rob their neighborhood church with hilarious and heartwarming results. A story about good intentions, bad decisions and second chances, First Sunday will be available for the SRP of $28.95 (DVD), $38.96 (Blu-ray) and $24.94 (PSP). The DVD and Blu-ray™ High-Def disc will be packed to the rafters with bonus materials including Filmmaker Commentary, Deleted Scenes, Outtakes, Featurettes and more. The Blu-ray™ High-Def disc will exclusively include “The Almighty Version Enhanced Fact Track,” which includes Pop-Up Trivia and Fun Facts about the film’s story, cast and production.
Synopsis
Ice Cube and Tracy Morgan are two thieves who haven’t got a prayer in First Sunday, a sinfully funny comedy co-starring Katt Williams and Chi McBride. Sentenced to 5,000 hours of community service, Durell Jefferson’s (Cube) life quickly goes from bad to worse. Realizing that the Lord helps those who help themselves, he eventually decides to help himself to the neighborhood church’s building fund. Accompanied by his dimwitted partner-in-crime LeeJohn (Morgan), the two down-on-their luck men are dismayed to discover the cash has already been stolen, so they hold the congregation hostage in a Hail Mary attempt to learn who amongst the righteous has already run away with their loot!
Filling out the all-star comedy cast are Loretta Devine (This Christmas, TV’s “Grey's Anatomy”), Michael Beach (TV’s “Third Watch”, Soul Food), Keith David (Barbershop, ATL), Regina Hall (the Scary Movie franchise), Malinda Williams (Tyler Perry's Daddy's Little Girls, TV's “Soul Food”), Rickey Smiley (TV’s “Comic View”, Friday After Next), Tiffany “New York” Pollard (TV’s “Flavor of Love,” “I Love New York”), Melanie Carmacho (Hair Show, Woman Thou Art Loosed), Reynaldo Rey (Friday, House Party 3) and Chi McBride (TV’s “Pushing Daisies,” “Boston Public”). The film was produced by Screen Gems. With a running time of approximately 96 minutes, the film is rated PG-13 for language, some sexual humor, and brief drug references.
